It’s January.  Are you tired of winter yet?  Are you dreaming of a tropical vacation?  I’ve got a tropical getaway for you, and you don’t have to leave the state.

This place took me out of the cold and into a tropical oasis, albeit for one night.  I said at the beginning of the year, let’s all keep our eyes and ears open for new menus and new burgers being unveiled.  I’ve got some new stuff and some old stuff for you.  I’m going to focus on the Luau Burger, but in this post, I will cover ALL of their very good burgers!

You may have heard about the “Best Burger in the Valley” contest they have every year in Stillwater.  The Luau Burger has been The Tilted Tiki’s entry the last two years.  It’s very popular for good reason.  The 6oz. Angus chuck & sirloin blended beef patty is seasoned with their special dry rub, it has a great char and was pretty juicy.  Cheddar and pepperjack cheeses are melted on top.  There are some nicely cooked fried onions and chopped bacon.  I love places that chop bacon for their burgers.  You get bacon in every bite.  This would be a very good burger if you stopped there, but now they add a generous mound of their tender and juicy, house made bbq pulled pork.  Their habanero aioli is drizzled on top, also giving it a little bite.  Nothing crazy at all.  The Franklin Street Bakery bun is soft and lightly toasted.  You will like all of the flavors the Luau Burger gives you!

Sweet ‘n Sassy Burger – This is the new burger created for the new menu.  The sautéed onions, which are sautéed in pineapple juice stood out to me, along with the delicious, sweet bbq sauce.   It has some of their chopped bacon, and cheddar and pepperjack cheeses will satisfy.

Elvis Burger – This Burger was created specifically for this years Best Burger in the Valley contest.  It’s not currently on their menu, but it is always available, and from the great response, it might be a permanent menu item.  The crunchy peanut butter will hit you right away.  It’s not overwhelming at all.  Brie cheese, bum bum rum vinaigrette and organic grape jelly are a great combination.  Give me a little more jelly.  You do get a little runny yolk from the egg.  I’d like it even more runny.  You also get their tasty chopped bacon.  Try the Elvis Burger and they will, “thank you, thank you very much”!

Tropical Pineapple Cheeseburger – This is The Tilted Tiki’s original burger and owner Chris Goetzke’s old standby.  The beef patty is topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, pina colada sauce and grilled pineapple.  The grilled pineapple gives it a nice, sweet, tart flavor, but doesn’t take over.

You have some difficult burger choices to make when you arrive at The Tilted Tiki in downtown Stillwater.  Don’t worry, I think you’ll be happy with any of these 4 very good burgers.

Deep Fried Pickle Pockets – Fantastic!

Tiki Friki Cheese Curds – Very Good!

Hawaiian Paki Donuts – Very Good!

As I stated at the beginning of this review, their new menu is out and some of the new items are the Sweet ‘n Sassy Burger, Mahi Mahi, Loaded LuLu Fries and Tacos, which were only offered on Tuesdays.  They’ve got so many cravings covered for you!

Their awesome patio is a little covered in snow right now, but in a few months you can enjoy all they have to offer.

Thank you, Chris, for having us in and Thank you, Ashley, for taking great care of us!
