The Tavern Grill has a great selection of chef built burgers, such as “The Widowmaker”, but when a place encourages you to be creative and build your own burger, I’m in!
They give you quite a few choices of meat, bread, cheese, toppings, sauces and extras. Mine started with the 1/2 pound fresh angus beef patty, cooked perfectly and juicy. I’m an onion guy, so caramelized onions I chose. I would have liked grilled onions as an options. I’m also a bacon guy, so bacon was my choice. It was a little too crispy for me.
In looking through the cheese options, I was about to choose American, but then something caught my eye down in the “sauce” section. Cheesy Jalapeño! Normally, this is used as a dipping sauce, but I pictured cheese sauce poured over the top of my burger, and as you can see in the picture, they nailed it and it was delicious! I chose sliced pickles to top it off. The toasted bun completed my creation. The bun was a little overtoasted for me, but ok.
If you look closer at the picture, you might have noticed what looks like a second beef patty, and you would be correct. I’m not sure why, but a second 1/2 pound patty was added to my burger. Yes, the math says that’s a full pound! I just said, “sweet”!
Put some burger fun in your life and make The Tavern Grill a future stop. It was a good burger!
