I’ve always been a big fan of Lou Nanne, the Golden Gophers and the North Stars.  Now I’m a big fan of his burgers!  This is a very good burger!

The former Lou Nanne’s Steakhouse, and now called Tavern23, certainly seem to know their beef.  The beef is the runaway Star here.  This was one of the juiciest burgers I’ve ever had.  I know I keep saying it, but if you give me juicy beef, I’ll keep coming back time and time again.

A slice of cheddar cheese on each patty.  Two slices of fresh tomatoes and fresh shredded lettuce topped the burger.  The bun was soft and lightly toasted.  I wanted a little something more as I usually do, and requested they add bacon and grilled onions.  The bacon was great as well as the grilled onions.

A couple of things to note.  I’m not a huge fan of cheddar cheese on my burger.  It was fine as always, but I did ask for American cheese.  I also asked for pickles, but after searching on my plate and on the burger, none were found.

Finally, one thing that may not bug you, but it bugs me a little bit, is that my burger and all of the tables burgers were cut in half.  While I think it does look cool, I would rather make the decision to cut my burger or not.  C’mon, I have to get a good picture.

What I will take away from Tavern23 is that this is one really good burger!

Hand-cut fries – Very good!

Cheese Curds – Very good!
Spicy Mayo dipping sauce – Very good!
