Spring is a popular time for restaurants to give a refresh to their menus. Tamarack Tap Room’s new menu drops on April 14th, but they let me preview a change to one of their most popular burgers.
When I looked over the menu, The Godfather was the burger that caught my eye. As it turns out, it has been a menu staple since the restaurant opened back in 2015.
The change is with the beef patty. Currently, the patty is USDA Certified Prime beef, but on the new menu, it will come with what they call the Butter Burger.
It’s a steak burger with NY strip, ribeye, chuck, brisket and is ground with real cream butter from Bongaard’s creamery, it’s course ground, loose packed and hand pattied.
The butter burger patty is juicy, flavorful, has a great char and was cooked to my desired temp. You can get your temps red, pink or no pink. The beef patty is the lead singer of The Godfather, but the rest of this band hits all the right notes. Wisconsin aged cheddar melted nicely, two strips of smoked bacon are delicious and perfectly cooked. You want onions, you get a ton of tasty caramelized onions. I didn’t have to use my, not enough sauce line, you get a very generous slather of their super good house sauce. Dennys Fifth Avenue Bakery capably handles your bun requirements.
I’ve got a menu item you can’t refuse, The Godfather!
We tried a few appetizers and a dessert. @tcfooddude has all of those details. Thank you, Jesse for your time and hospitality. Our server, Brittany was awesome!
Beer/Burgers/Bourbon is what they do.
