One cool thing about Twin Cities Burger Night with @phatphood & @shawnsrodgers is we are hitting a few places that I’ve only been to once and have always wanted to get back to. Two years ago I was at the Rock Elm Tavern in Plymouth and totally enjoyed my Burger experience. This time we are at their Maple Grove location for #TCBurgerNight.
I chose the signature burger for my experience tonight. 7 ounces of black angus beef from Revier Cattle Company out of Olivia, MN. Super juicy, nicely seasoned, and temped beautifully. I do love trying cheeses you just don’t see much around the Twin Cities. Their choice of Montamore cheese is brilliant. This sweet, creamy and tangy cheese melts beautifully. It has a great taste.
Another very distinct part of this burger is their candied walnut aioli. Creamy and just fantastic. Scattered into this super flavorful creation, are some tasty roasted mushrooms. Arugula is layered on the bottom bun in that awesome aioli. Rock Elm knows where to get their buns from. Yet again, Franklin Street Bakery knocks it out of the park. Soft, squishy, buttered and toasted. No issues at all holding in all the juicy beef and aioli. This is a lot of burger, but it felt good in my hands and had a soft feel to it, which I love.
The burger gods were definitely looking down on Rock Elm Tavern tonight. My burger was fantastic and the rest of the crew and a group joining us for #TCBurgerNight loved theirs as well. This place has a cool vibe.
Thank you, Troy, for having us in and chatting with us for a while. Also thanks to Chef Steve, for kicking out all of that great food. Thanks, Michelle and our server Mary Beth.
Keep an eye out for their rotating Chef Burger at both locations. Check out Phat & Shawn’s posts and stories for a lot more.
Housemade Tots – Perfection! I would go in and just get a couple orders of these incredible Tots and be very happy. OK, I’d get a burger too! There are no better Tots!
Buffalo Shrimp – Fantastic! A nice little heat kick. The mango slaw is awesome!
Fries – Good, but I’d like to see House-cut.
