The latest episode of “Are the Greats Still Great?”, took me to Revival’s Original location for their cheeseburger that has been in my Top 10 since they opened their doors.
It’s a #TCBurgerNight with @shawnsrodgers & @phatphood and we are ringing the burger bell, reminding you to support the restaurants that have been around for a while.
This burger is still great! Go with double beef patties for the perfect meat to bun ratio. They’ve got a nice crust on them, they are seasoned very well and the brisket heavy grind is juicy. American cheese is plentiful. Their house made bread & butter pickles are fantastic. The Duke’s mayo blends in perfectly and is just enough to know it’s there. I think it adds to the overall juicy feeling of the burger. The La Boulangerie Marguerite bun is soft and toasted nicely.
The question! To add their thick, juicy, salty house-cured bacon or not? I’ve had this burger many times and I’ve added the bacon every time until the last two times I’ve enjoyed it. Have the burger without the bacon. The balance of saltiness and savoryness is perfect without it. Is the burger still great with bacon on it? Yes, it is. And, it makes for a good photo. I get my bacon on the side. It is delicious. Chef Thomas Boemer prefers it without the bacon. Try it without, then try it with.
Is the Revival Burger still great? Damn straight it is! Top 10!
