What can possibly be said about Matt’s Bar and their legendary Jucy Lucy that hasn’t been said already? Probably nothing, so I’ll just give you my take on it. The Jucy Lucy was invented at Matt’s Bar in 1954. That’s what I believe. When people talk about Minnesota, they now talk about the Jucy Lucy and not lutefisk. I don’t know anyone who has had lutefisk. If that is your thing, more power to you, but my thing is the burger. I want the state I love to be known for a burger. Thank you Matt’s Bar! When visitors come to town, I tell them to go to Matt’s Bar. Should you get a cheesesteak in Philly? Absolutely! If you’re in Minnesota, it’s a Jucy Lucy! Yes, I intentionally spelled it wrong because I’m talking about the one and only, Matt’s Bar Jucy Lucy.
The #TCBN crew of @phatphood, @shawnsrodgers & myself wanted to stop in and have this iconic masterpiece. It’s simplicity is its brilliance. It doesn’t try to be something it’s not. American cheese placed between two beef patties that are crimped around the edges, seasoned and cooked on an even better seasoned grill. Dice up some onions on that grill as well, then give me some simple, but really good pickles, all in a soft, simple bun. That’s it! That’s where the Jucy Lucy starts and ends. They cook it the way they want to. Any other place can put their own spin on it, and that’s great, but it will always come back to the original and the best Jucy Lucy at Matt’s Bar. Sure, put ketchup and mustard on it. It’s still great. Add a slice of cheese on top and some extra pickles, it just gets better. It’s a burger experience like no other.
There are many things to be proud of in our great state. This is certainly an important one. To anyone who has never heard of or has never had a Jucy Lucy, come to Matt’s Bar first. You won’t need to go anywhere else! It’s a great burger! Make sure you check out all of our posts and instastories. There are some cool, unique shots.
French Fries – Shoestring type. Good!
