We say it a lot, but we feel it’s very important to not only visit new places with new burgers, but also to do regular visits to the places that have been around for years and are fixtures in their communities as well as around the Twin Cities. Twin Cities Burger Night #TCBN is taking us back in time to 1932, when this establishment opened up as Manning’s Cafe. They’ve certainly got some neighborhood cred. @phatphood & @shawnsrodgers are in the time machine with me. Let’s check things out.
Jumbo? Yep. Think Bacon Cheeseburger, but crank it way up. This is a 12oz. single patty behemoth. They cook the beef to order. Mine hit close to medium temp. It was juicy. As far as seasoning, I would have liked a lot more. Three slices of American cheese more than satisfies your cheese need. You also get a few strips of nicely cooked bacon. I added grilled onions, which always completes the package. A few dill pickle slices on the side were added. The Grandma’s Bakery bun was soft, but the top bun was cut super thin. It felt strange. Overall, this burger is what you would expect to get at your neighborhood bar restaurant. It’s a solid burger.
This is the kind of place that has Hamm’s beer on tap. I couldn’t resist. Get some free popcorn. This place is old school. Check out Phat’s & Shawn’s posts to see their burgers and for some more information on food specials. Breakfast is served all day, every day as well.
Fries – Good! Crinkle cut style. Get the seasoned ones.
Onion Rings – Good! Big, thick, very unique batter.
It was great to meet and chat with our server, Tiffany @sallyttb. She will take care of you.
