I am excited to be up in the North Metro with fellow #TCBN teammates, @shawnsrodgers & @phatphood. This is our first Twin Cities Burger Night, North of 694. We are at a place called Kendall’s Tavern & Chophouse. It’s located in the beautiful Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids. I do know that Kendall’s T&C has been at the last two Twin Cities Burger Battles and they will be in this years as well. Kendall’s T&C’s, Chef Picha, was with St. Paul Grill when they won the TCBB 2015 People’s Choice Award, so he knows a few things about burgers.
You have a few different burger choices including adding your own toppings. I do love building my own burger. It starts with their 1/2 pound, chuck & shank, grass fed beef blend from Ranchers Legacy Meat Company out of Vadnais Heights. The beef was cooked to temp, juicy and definitely had that soft, melt in your mouth feel to it. Next I picked their horseradish cheddar. It had a nice little bite to it, but very faint so it didn’t overpower other flavors. There was a lot of it and it was melted perfectly. A bunch of caramelized onions top that. Finally, a couple strips of bacon and a few sliced pickles to complete this creation. The bun is a good one. It’s soft, buttered and toasted perfectly. This is a good burger!
I definitely want to get back here to check out the patio overlooking the golf course. The Bunker Hills Golf Club has a lot to offer. It has Kendall’s Tavern & Chophouse, there is a lot of available event space in the Event Center area for weddings, meetings, banquets, etc.. There is also an area with 4 golf simulators. You can bring a few friends, have some food, drinks and hit some golf balls.
Thanks to Chef Picha for kicking out some great food. Also to Ryan for putting it all together for us, and to our kickass server, Sarah, for taking care of us! It’s a very cool place. It was packed on a Tuesday night. .
