It had been a few years since I had an In-N-Out Burger. On my recent visit to Utah, we discovered there were quite a few locations in the Salt Lake City area.
This burger has such an incredible following and I wanted to know why. The bottom line is that it is a very good fast food/fast casual burger. If you picked it apart, you might ask why are people so crazy about?
Is the beef patty something extra special? Are the toppings something extra special? Is the bun something extra special? Some would say not really? I would say this: the patties are cooked and charred well on a flattop grill. The lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles are very fresh. The bun is soft, squishy and lightly toasted. One of the things that sets it apart is the incredible flavor their spread has. To me, that elevates it over its competitors.
Why else? Because most of the country do not have any restaurants in their state, so when people travel, this is usually on their restaurant list. I also think it’s fun to talk about a secret or not so secret menu. People love to order it Animal Style!
I will always get the Double Double with extra spread and pickles. It comes with lettuce and tomatoes. I prefer the raw onions over the grilled onions slightly.
If you have never had an In-N-Out Burger, have one when you get the chance and enjoy the hyped up Burger experience! It may or may not be a little overrated, but give yourself a chance to find out!
Fries – Good.
