With the closing of Stewart’s in St. Paul recently, we lost, among many other things, one of the best burgers in the Twin Cities. Sometimes, good things just have a way of working out.
A former Chef at Stewart’s, Kevin Manley, and his wife, Anna Morgan bought the Stewart’s location and it has become @gusgus_mn. Chef Kevin, @kevy_f_baby_02 knows that burger very well, and how lucky are we, that he’s put it on their menu. Now, you’re probably thinking he took some things that he loved about that burger and tweaked a thing or two on it? Nope. It’s the same and it is as good as it ever was. The #TCBurgerNight crew, @shawnsrodgers & @phatphood had to check it out.
The house made American cheese is prominent on this burger. It will drip down the sides of the patties. It has a Velveeta type feel to it. It is delicious. The 3 1/2 ounce, brisket & chuck patties from @petersoncraftmeats are seasoned nicely, have a good char on them and are pretty juicy.
The mustard aioli is fantastic. You’ll love it, and if you are a mustard lover, you’ll love it even more. That’s a lot of love. 😉 The maple caramelized onions have a great flavor. The mustard aioli is generously spread on the top and bottom buns, and the bottom bun is lined with a few very thin sliced, tasty pickles. The beautifully toasted bun from @lamargstpaul is super soft, airy and perfect. This burger has that nice soft feel in your hands.
Start your night out with a shot. Not of liquor, but one of Anna’s Jell-O shots. Think you’ve had every take on poutine? Their poutine might confuse you, but it will dazzle you.
