It was nice to be back at Groveland Tap in St. Paul’s Macalester-Groveland neighborhood. It’s been a couple of years since I was last there. I’m with the rest of the #TCBN burger team, @phatphood & @shawnsrodgers at this vibrant burger and beer joint.
My usual order was always the Cajun Lucy, which is no longer on the menu, so I was thinking it was time to try one of their regular burgers. I scanned the menu and the BCO Lucy caught my eye. It sounded too good and had everything that I love on a burger. I made the right call!
I’m happy to start with the beef. We all know how a Juicy Lucy can end up being way over cooked in order to get the cheese melted correctly. Not this one. I actually got some pink. There was a great char on the beef patty AND it was seasoned well! 🙌 There was no shortage of American cheese oozing out from this burger. I did add a slice of American cheese on top of the patty as well. I would do it again. Delicious fried onions top the cheese and a lot of perfectly cooked bacon on top of that. The bun from @pjmurphysbakerymn was soft, lightly toasted and fantastic! I was very impressed with the BCO Lucy. It belongs in the group of Lucys you should have on your list.
If you just need a good beer and a good burger, @grovelandtap should be your place.
Crinkle-Cut Fries – Good. I got the parmesan-garlic. Get some Tap sauce to dip them in.
Thursday Night Tacos – Good. Loved the hard shells.
Deviled Eggs – Very good!
