We visited three well known places that have the best Green Chile Cheeseburgers in New Mexico.  Santa Fe Bite in Santa Fe, The Owl Cafe and Laguna Burger in Albuquerque.  They are all worth a visit.  The Green Chile Cheeseburger at Santa Fe Bite has garnered national attention.  It is juicy and flavorful, the cheese was melted nicely, the bun was soft and a little toasted.  The star of course are the Green Chiles.  I wasn’t a big fan of Green Chiles up here in Minnesota, but these are not Minnesota Green Chiles.  These are fresh, spicy and flavorful Green Chiles from Hatch, NM.  The best in the country.  Good burger!

The Owl Cafe’s Chili Cheeseburger is a good Diner Burger.  Juicy beef, melted American cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickles and the spicy, tasty Green Chiles on a soft diner bun.  Very solid.

Laguna  burger is another good diner style burger.  The Green and Red blend of chilis is flavorful and a little spicy.  Juicy beef, American cheese, lettuce, red onions, pickles on a sesame seed bun.  The bun was quite toasty, but fine.

The food in New Mexico was outstanding!  We would highly recommend a trip!

I thought I would share the highlight of my recent trip to New Mexico.  A burger? Of course!  Thrillist.com puts this at #29 on their 100 Best Burgers in America list. But, they also list it ahead of our own Saint Dinette, Borough, Paddy Shack & Matt’s Bar, so we know it’s a little shady from the start.  Green Chile Cheeseburger at Santa Fe Bite has garnered national attention. Good burger! There are two other well known Green Chile Cheeseburgers to try in Albuquerque.  They are at the Owl Café and at Laguna Burger on Route 66. Nothing fancy with these burgers, just really good Diner type goodness.

If you don’t have New Mexico on your vacation list, I would recommend it. The landscape is beautiful and better yet, the food was outstanding! We loved it!

Secret note: Our favorite thing on the trip was the Southwest Bennie at the Flying Star Cafe in Albuquerque. The best Eggs Benedict ever! I would say it’s the best breakfast in America!
