When one of my highly rated burgers is taken off the menu or changed, I definitely try to get back to that restaurant and see what’s going on. I’m back at Esker Grove located at the Walker Art Center to check out a different burger on the menu since the last time I was there.
I loved their House Ground Burger, but it has been replaced with the Cheeseburger! I’m happy to say, some things never change. This burger is fantastic! The beef, which I was told, is from the just down the road at Lowry Hill Meats. It was seasoned well, juicy and cooked perfectly. Caramelized onions top the patty. Their pick for cheese is Muenster. It melts very well, is buttery and mild. This is melted over the caramelized onions. Under the patty are their tasty pickles and flavorful bacon jam, which I wanted even more of. The Baker’sField bun is soft, airy, lightly toasted and perfect! This burger has a nice soft feel to it.
The Cheeseburger is only available for lunch and brunch. Don’t expect it for dinner. The weekend is a great time to stop in for the Cheeseburger and then cross the street and check out the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. That’s where you’ll find the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture and the vividly blue, Hahn/Cock.
French Fries – Very good! They are salted very well, which I love!
