We love our Summers in Minnesota, but I think a lot of people would say Fall is their favorite season up in this area of the country.  The weather is great, the ever changing colors are great and it’s all about pumpkins, squash and apples to name a few things we love about Fall.  Let’s talk apples.  I love all things apple.  Delicious, crisp apples, apple pie, apple crisp, apple cider, caramel apples and burgers.  Yes, now there is a Fall burger waiting for you to try.

I certainly wasn’t sure how this one would go, but I had faith, as always, that Chef Al could pull it off.  This is why I love places that do Burgers of the Month.  Anything and everything goes.  Creativity shines.

We know this burger is going to have a sweet component, the caramel.  It’s going to need a salty component to even it out.  Al does a great job putting a thick, salty char on this juicy beef patty.  It’s seasoned with kosher salt and pepper and cooked to my temp as always.  It’s a great start to the salty part.  Neufchatel cheese gets the nod here.  It’s similar to cream cheese, very soft, creamy, tangy and spreadable.  Now to the sweet.  Al uses Macintosh apple straws and deep fries them until crispy and then drizzles them with homemade caramel sauce.  He does finish that part will a little kosher salt sprinkled on top.  The @dennysfifthavebakery bun is toasted beautifully and then Al’s savory bourbon apple butter spread is swiped on the top bun.  I’ll be honest, the first thing I wanted to do was get a separate order of the apple straws drizzled with caramel.  There may have been a few missing before I dug in.  Not all my fault.  I must say that I did enjoy the burger.  It’s sweet, savory and salty.  If you want a new Fall culinary experience, stop in to @celtscrafthouse for their Salted Caramel Apple Burger.  This just might be the burger for you!
