When you’ve done almost 3 years of Burgers of the Month, how do you keep coming up with new ideas? Sometimes that idea just falls into your lap.
When I saw Chef Al’s BOM for September was called Roasted Onion, a big smile came across my face. I love onions of all kinds, cooked all different ways or raw. How did Al come up with this months burger idea? Boar’s Head, that’s how. They dropped off some of their new Caramelized Onion Jack Cheese. After his first bite, the idea for the September BOM came to him.
Caramelized onions are mixed into their Monterey Jack Cheese giving it a burst of flavor. It’s creamy, has some toasty notes and a little sweetness to it. It’s delicious! Al slices and grills up some onions, puts them on top of his juicy, perfectly seasoned, 1/2 pound beef patty and puts a ton of this cheese on top and perfectly melts it all.
What is something good to pair with onions? Garlic. Al’s fantastic Roasted Garlic Aioli would be the perfect companion, but Al’s not done with the onions yet. He dices up some more onions, caramelizes them, and adds them to that roasted garlic aioli and gives you a generous swipe on top of the lightly toasted, @dennysbakery bun. Sprinkle on some sliced green onions and my fellow onion lovers have the burger they’ve been waiting for. You will love it! I’d love to hear from you after you try it.
