The September Burger of the Month at @celtscrafthouse is called the Chowhownd. I’ve got a little story for you.
Like pickles? The Chowhownd is pickle centric. It’s a 1/2 pound beef patty, juicy and seasoned beautifully. The nicely melted cheese is dill havarti. On top of the cheese are a few battered and deep fried dill pickle chips. The @dennysbakery bun is soft and lightly toasted.
The last component is called Xavier’s Chowhownd Relish. It’s the creation of Marcus McGee, @mmcgee421, and his son Kellen McGee. They’ve been selling the relish out of their home for a while. Marcus is a friend of Chef Al’s and now he has a BOM named after their tasty relish. I met Marcus back in early 2021 at Celts Craft House. A few months ago, @phatphood brought me a jar of their relish to try. I definitely enjoyed it. Now, a very generous amount is spooned onto the September BOM, the Chowhownd. Marcus says the relish is similar to what you would get on a Chicago style hot dog. It’s a mustard based relish that is not only good on a hot dog, but a burger, chicken, sloppy joes and brats, to name a few.
You can order it on their Xavier’s Chowhownd Relish Facebook site. Their website, will be up very soon. I’d recommend you order a jar, but if you want to taste it before you buy it, Celts Craft House is the place to visit. It’s a very good burger!
