September brings with it, cooler Fall weather. It also brings in a new Burger of the Month at Celts Craft House and a burger with some flavors you are not going to find anywhere else.
This month’s burger will have you saying “where did you come up with this one?”. This burger has a black licorice flavor to it, and components that lend itself to that flavor. Now, don’t freak out and think about the candy and that it’s a dominant licorice flavor. The flavor is there, but it’s not dominant by any means. The chuck, brisket & short rib blend is liberally seasoned with toasted caraway and anise. Those spices become part of the nice, thick char on this 8 oz. patty. It was super juicy and nailed my pink request as you can see. There is NO cheese on this burger. Now, don’t worry, it is going to be OK. That’s what I had to tell myself when I found out there was no cheese on the burger.
Sautéed fennel (it has stalks similar to celery, but has a mild licorice flavor) tops the beef patty. A rich, buttery and creamy bearnaise sauce is poured over the top of that. The sauce stands in nicely for the absence of cheese. To complete this unique burger experience, a toasted rye bun from Denny’s 5th Avenue Bakery is used. It’s slightly denser, but certainly works. This is a very good burger! If you are looking for a little different burger experience than what you are used to, make the short trek down to Apple Valley. Put your trust in Chef Al!
