It’s been a long 3 years since I’ve been here. Why so long? Oh, I had a few hundred burgers to try before I could get back, but @burgeraweek invited me to what is basically his backyard and I thought it would be a good idea to catch up with John, and have this burger again.
I want to start with the bun this time. The first time I had this burger, I was a little disappointed with the pretzel bun. I thought it was a little harder than it should be. This time, fantastic! It was toasted perfectly with that little crispy edge around it that I can feel with every bite. It had a light feel to it. I’m happy.
The two quarter pound patties were cooked to a medium well temp, but had a juiciness to them. The seasoning seemed fine as well. The cheese kicks ass. White American is plentiful, melted perfectly and it does become one with the beef.
Two types of onions, caramelized and a handful of frizzled onions, top the patties. Pickles are sliced lengthwise and thin. This burger is very good.
I do want to touch on the frizzled onions (onion strings or crispy fried onions are other names). I want to take them off, dip them in something and enjoy. These are delicious. When I eat them by themselves, with no dipping sauce of any kind, they can be a little dry. I think on a burger, it does dry it out a little bit. A nice drizzling of an aioli or a mayo would be a good thing if you do put frizzled onions on any burger. What do you think?
Dine-in, hit the patio, pickup or delivery. Good stuff is waiting for you. Masks are worn by the staff and most patrons had them as well.
Truffle Fries – Fantastic!
Gorgonzola Cream Sauce – Delicious!
