Dinkytown dining!

My dinkytown burger search took me to Blarney Pub & Grill located by the University of Minnesota.  I had zero expectations that this would be anything more than not very good bar food.  I have to say it was pretty good and had a few things going for it.

First off, I asked for pink and they definitely got me pink.  Nothing really stood out about the beef, but it was not overcooked.  I’ll take that as a plus.  A slice of cheddar and a slice of pepperjack cheese seemed to be a good mix.  Romaine lettuce was a little too garnishy for me.  The tomato was fine.  I did like the way they sliced up the pickles in a kind of thin wedge type shape.  The pickles were good.  I couldn’t really find them, but caramelized onions were supposed to be on there.

A couple of things did stand out.  The sriracha aioli was delicious and they put a good amount on the burger.  Last, I guess bakeries have figured out how to do pretzel buns.  In the past I have been a little apprehensive about them, but I’ve had some good ones lately and this one was soft, lightly toasted and just a really good bun.

Overall, it’s a decent burger option within walking distance of the U of M arenas.

French Fries – OK.

Reuben Poppers – OK.
