Sometimes there are a few bumps in the burger road. I’m hoping it was an off night for Barley + Vine, but as I say, an off night for you is an off night for me!
Barley + Vine Kitchen & Bar – Lakeville / The Locavore Burger – 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Let’s start with the beef. It was cooked to my medium preference, but this is an example that you can cook a patty to medium, but it isn’t necessarily juicy. It was not very juicy and was not very flavorful. Now the cheese. I’m not a big fan of cheddar cheese on my burgers unless it’s homemade or something extra special. Normal cheddar doesn’t melt as well as other cheeses and it also just doesn’t have the flavor I like on my burger.
Now the bacon. It’s duck bacon. I didn’t really know how this would taste. I love things made in duck fat, so I had my hopes, but this duck bacon tasted pretty much like ham. It was cold as well. I added caramelized onions, which were pretty good. The egg was cooked almost over easy, but it was cold, like everything else. Lastly, the bun was pretty good. Soft and toasted. It was ok.
Overall, this burger was really just blah. I can’t really recommend it.
French Fries – soggy and cold. Nope!
Tater tots – Ore Ida out of the freezer. They forgot to warm them up.
