The Barbecue scene in the Twin Cities is pretty darn good and getting better. So many of us are looking to these places for great ribs, pork butt and melt in your mouth brisket to name a few items, but how many of us think about getting a burger at a barbecue place, and how good would we expect that burger to be? How about 5 Star?
It turned out to be a beautiful day for a #TCBurgerNight with @phatphood & @shawnsrodgers. The @animalesburgerco trailer has been parked at @ablebrewery for the foreseeable future. They offer a fantastic burger, which you can get as a single, double and even a triple. You can add pork belly, jalapeños, a mustard themed gold sauce or spice it up with jerk sauce & jalapeños.
I usually choose a double patty. Two 1/4 patties from @petersoncraftmeats, smashed, charred, seasoned well and juicy. They have added a little more white American cheese on the patties since I had the burger back in July of last year. The house pickles are tasty and plentiful. The milk bun, made in house by @amberlin06, is lightly toasted and very good. Should you add their amazing pork belly to the burger? The answer is yes and no. It melts in your mouth, so it will not pull off the burger when you take a bite and the burger can handle that little more saltiness that it brings. My no answer is simply because it is so good as a side item.
You can decide for yourself to try any or all of the add-ons. I would like one more aioli/mayo/sauce option.
This Burger looks like an artistic creation and tastes as good as it looks. It should be on any Twin Cities Burger hit list.
